Tree branch smashes into car windscreen during gale force winds

A tree branch crashed through the windscreen of a silver car on Candie Road.

The incident happened at lunchtime on Thursday, when winds were hitting gale force 8.

It is understood that people were in the car when the incident happened.

Guernsey Police confirmed no one was injured and the road was closed while the incident was dealt with.

The bad weather was causing serious disruption to sea travel on Thursday, with all Sark sailings cancelled and only one Herm rotation taking place.

The Goodwill freight boat managed to dock in the morning, but all other Condor sailings were cancelled.

Friday’s Goodwill sailing has been cancelled and the fast ferry rotation between the islands and Poole has been moved back to later in the day. However, the Islander and Clipper are scheduled to do UK rotations.
