But he is not so keen on the suggestion that the 2021 Muratti could be slotted into the early weeks of next season. Were that Jersey-mooted idea to win favour within the GFA and Alderney FA, Tardif admitted it would be far from perfect.

‘It’s almost going to be a case of pick a squad, put them in a kit and away you go,’ he said on the very first GP Football Podcast.

‘That would be difficult. To have it at that time of the year is a strain on pretty much everyone [including] in terms of local teams trying to get started in the league. I would want to be training with the guys at least once a week, so you would be taking them away from their clubs sides when they are desperate to start building for the new season.

'Then there’s GFC obviously, so when are we going to fit a game in? Jersey Bulls will be exactly the same.

‘Look, I’m desperate to play a game and to beat Jersey, but it has got to be the right time for everyone: clubs, players, local teams, GFC, Jersey Bulls.’
