Horace Andy is one of the Vale Earth Fair headliners.

The fair takes place at the Vale Castle on 25 and 26 of August and is the longest-running festival in the Channel Islands, attracting thousands to the site.

Most known in the mainstream for his work with the band Massive Attack, Horace Andy is an influential figure, having recorded and performed around the world in his own right since the early 1970s.

Vale Earth Fair Collective member Rob Roussel said it was good timing as Horace had a gap in his schedule following some dates touring with Massive Attack.

‘We’ve wanted to put on some proper roots reggae at the Vale Earth Fair for a long time, and Horace Andy certainly fits the bill – it’s going to be a special night.

‘He’s been a long-time favourite of mine, so personally I’m really excited to see him play in the Vale Castle,’ he said.

The Earth Fair was first staged in 1976 and remains a local event with a global conscience, financed in part by fundraising events throughout the year.

One of these is on Sunday 3 June, from 10am-4pm, when the collective will be holding a record fair at the 2nd Guernsey Scout hut in the Vale with live music, food and refreshments also on offer.

‘All musical tastes are catered for, from pop to classical, rock to techno, jazz to drum n bass. As well as the bargains to be had, there will also be plenty of collectibles on offer,

‘We have a number of stall holders booked, including one from Jersey, but there are still spaces,’ said Mr Roussel.
